Prospect New Orleans Announces Prospect.6 Closing Weekend Programming
New Orleans — January 14, 2025 — Prospect New Orleans is pleased to announce the lineup of final programming and events to mark the culmination of Prospect.6: The Future Is Present, The Harbinger Is Home, which remains open to the public through February 2, 2025.
Curated by Susan Brennan Co-Artistic Directors Miranda Lash and Ebony G. Patterson, P.6 marks the sixth edition of the citywide triennial, which opened in November 2024. Featuring 51 artists across 21 venues in New Orleans, the presentation probes the city's identity and highlights its artistic scene, encouraging both local and global audiences to engage with pieces that resonate with, challenge, and enrich New Orleans' cultural landscape.
Reflecting these themes, the closing weekend programming expands on this exploration of innovation and community, showcasing the collective creative spirit of New Orleans in P.6. The festivities will kick off on January 30 with the P.6 Catalogue Mixer at Art Conscious, where attendees will preview the P.6 catalog and engage with contributing writers. The publication will be available for pre-order and is set for an official release in April 2025.
On the occasion of the final weekend, P.6 artists Tuan Mami and Christian Việt Đinh will host community gatherings themed around their installations. At Xavier Art Gallery, Mami revisits his piece Seeding the Future, fostering interactions with elders from the local Vietnamese community through shared stories and the creation of symbolic seed pods. Concurrently, at a gathering in New Orleans East, Christian Việt Ðinh's Reverence to the Refugee will celebrate Vietnamese cultural heritage with storytelling and traditional desserts.
The closing weekend also features an immersive experience by artist Deborah Jack at UNO St. Claude Gallery, blending sound and poetry in her six-channel video installation, accompanied by the Diaphanous Ensemble and local sound artists. Also, at Poor Boys Bar, artist Brendan Fernandes's On Flashing Lights dance performance pairs with a DJ set by Bouffant Bouffant, exploring the intersections of law enforcement and marginalized communities through light and sound.
The programming will also feature two discussions featuring the P.6 Co-Artistic Directors in a reflection of the triennial’s impact, as well as a conversation with P.6 Artist Brooke Pickett about her series of paintings What To Eat, What to Drink, What To Leave and the present themes of ecological disaster and domesticity.
Finally, the weekend will close with an invitation to artist Stephanie Syjuco’s Memory and Mythmaking: Filipinx American Histories of St. Malo, featuring a panel, ancestral walk, and an excursion that delves deep into Filipinx and African-descended histories, providing a profound closure to this vibrant triennial.

Founded in 2007, Prospect New Orleans is a triennial citywide exhibition of contemporary art featuring artists from Louisiana and around the globe. For Prospect’s sixth iteration, co-Artistic Directors Miranda Lash and Ebony G. Together these places offer sanctuaries and indicators of the yearnings and tensions that will define our collective future.
